Health, Safety and Environmental Advisor
Our Bandon based client are seeking a Health & Safety Advisor to join their busy team for 20 hours a week work.
The successful candidate will act as an advisor working closely with cross functional managers to remove risks and drive a safe working culture in their areas of responsibility by promoting high standards and compliance with Health and
Safety policies and procedures.

This is a standalone role reporting into the Managing Director.
20 hrs. a week across 5 days. Flexibility to meet all shifts.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE ROLE:
Main point of contact for Health and Safety
Update the Managing Director regularly on all matters relating to Health & Safety risks, safe working practices & safety behaviours.
Liaise, support, and provide guidance to Managers to ensure compliance with Health & Safety legislation and
best practice in a food manufacturing environment.
Conduct regular site inspections and audits to identify and remove possible risks.
Proactively conduct risk assessments; maintain and update the risk assessment register.
Ensure SOPs are updated in accordance with legislation.
Investigate, record and report accidents, incidents, and good catches promptly, and ensure any corrective
actions are implemented without delay.
Manage the good catch register. Liaise with cross functional managers, supervisors, and H&S representatives to minimize risk and ensure appropriate corrective actions are implemented and closed out in a timely manner.
Liaise and correspond with the firms insurance providers and the HSA.
Identify Health and Safety training needs for the site.
Schedule and deliver on site induction safety training including manual handling and first aid training.
Schedule and deliver Health and Safety training and toolbox talks to eliminate risks and create a culture of safety in the business
Maintain, validate, and certify training records.
Coordinate the monthly Health & Safety committee meetings. Provide reports and trends on incidents,
accidents, and good catches to the Health & Safety Committee.
Regularly review and update risk assessments, SOP’s, health & safety policies, and safety statement and communicate to the relevant employees.
Stay up to date on Health & Safety legislation, best practice, and their implications for the business
KEY QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE FOR THE ROLE:
Relevant Health and Safety qualification.
Thorough understanding of Health & Safety legislation.
Train the trainer certification.
First aid qualification.
Minimum four years’ experience in a H&S risk advisory role in a manufacturing / food environment.
Certified and experienced in delivering health and safety training including manual handling and first aid.
Strong knowledge of MS Office and IT skills.
